Miller, Rebecca Rose

Rebecca Rose Miller, 87, of Morse, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, at St. Wenceslaus Church, with the Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where the parish and the National Catholic Society of Foresters will recite a rosary at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous of Iowa or Mercy Hospital Foundation for cardiac care.

Becky was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Cosgrove, Iowa, the daughter of Cyril and Sara Meade Rohret. She was a graduate of Cosgrove High School and Cedar Falls Teachers College (UNI). On Dec. 29, 1942, Rebecca Rose Rohret married Ralph Miller at St. Peter's Church in Cosgrove. Becky taught students in Morse and other rural schools. Ralph and she farmed for many years near Morse. Becky was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church, the National Catholic Society of Foresters and Altar and Rosary.

Becky was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Most important in life was her faith and her family. She will be greatly missed.

Becky is survived by her six children, William (Jan) Miller of Iowa City, Judy (Gary) Suchomel of West Branch, Terry (Janet) Miller of Scottsdale, Ariz., Connie (Mike) Meis of Naperville, Ill., Debbie (Robert) Schlegel of Washington and Laurie Fitzgerald of Ojai, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, Trish (Kurt) Rummelhart and Shelly (Ryan) Smith, both of Iowa City, Jennifer (Kyle) Stahle of Solon, Ryan (Debbie) Suchomel of Solon, Laura (Joe) Rannfeldt of Marion, Scott Suchomel of Tipton, Drs. Greg (Sophia) Meis of Columbus, Ohio, Maggie Fitzgerald of Ojai, Calif., Rebecca (John) Dullard of West Des Moines, Drs. Peter Meis and fiancee Anjali D'Souza of Seattle, Elizabeth and Alex Schlegel of Washington, Tate and Troy Miller of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon and Matthew Rummelhart, Jack, Joe and Sean Stahle, Makayla and Emilee Suchomel, Zoe and Nicholas Meis and Cullen Smith; three siblings, Grace Greazel of Solon, Earlis (Lucy) Rohret and James (Trish) Rohret, both of Cosgrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2005; and one sister, Bernice Dvorksy.
