MELINDA 'MINDY' MERRY FISHER
Cedar Rapids

Melinda "Mindy" Merry Fisher of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020.
Survivors include her siblings, Martin Fisher (Michele Fisher), Amy Fisher Wyman (Bob Wyman), Ann Fisher (Bob Carver) and Melanie Fisher. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Elayne Fisher.
Mindy was born on July 23, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mindy graduated from Washington High School and the Horticulture Program at Kirkwood Community College.
After college, Mindy made a home in Eagle, Colo., working for Vail Mountain, in a variety of roles: ski instructor, ski patrol and lift operator. This allowed her to ski daily and enjoy the Colorado landscape and lifestyle.
Later, she returned home to Cedar Rapids and worked for many, many years at FedEx as a driver. She had many friends at FedEx and enjoyed serving the customers she got to know on her route.
Mindy enjoyed physical work and never shied away from work that others her size might find intimidating.
Mindy also loved horses and horseback riding. As the MS made things more challenging for her in her daily life, she continued to ride until she could no longer. The Miracles in Motion program was a Godsend for her.
Throughout the later part of her life, Mindy faced the disease, that took so much from her, with tremendous strength, courage and stubbornness.
Mindy will be missed for many things, including her big smile, quick wit, a love of pigs and the will to live as she choose.
Mindy was lovingly cared for in later years by her friend, Sandy Miller; and the Fisher family will forever be grateful to Sandy for her loving Care.
