Mary Ann Osborn was born March 2, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Gilbert Mayo and Walda Sophia (Lenhart) Rutledge and passed away at her home in Greene on Thursday, July 26, 2018. She received her education in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Jefferson High School.
She was united in marriage to John Henry Osborn on Sept. 21, 1963, in Cedar Rapids. This union was blessed with two children.
Mary Ann worked for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 38 years. Her husband, John, formed Osborn Construction in Cedar Rapids, later moving the business to Greene where they made their home. Mary Ann was a very hard worker, worked alongside her husband and it was often said that "she could do the work of two men."
Mary Ann loved to go "second handing" and always thought of others when she did, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed finding and refinishing antiques; she found charm in them and always preferred them over something new. Mary Ann was proud of her family and talked about her grandchildren often. She loved animals, especially her little dog Abby. Mary Ann was a very kind, thoughtful and generous person. She always was concerned for the welfare of others and wanted to be sure everyone, even strangers, had something to eat.
After retirement, Mary Ann and her husband wintered in Florida, which she looked forward to every year. There they made many new friends.
Living family members include one son, John (Misty) Osborn, Greene, and their children Amber, Arin (Abe) and Anthony; one daughter, Tina Marie (Dan) Schleder and their children, Bradley, Ryley and Madison Schleder, Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Marshall, Adler and Dylan; siblings, Cheryl (Evelyn) Rutledge, Marilyn Billings, Joel (Judith) Rutledge and Judith (Donald) Kielman; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2013; her parents; brother, Lynn; brother-in-law, Bob Billings; and faithful canine, Abby.
