Marvin was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Lime Springs, Iowa, the son of Emerson and Elsie (Vogel) Baumgartner. He married the love of his life, Francis Keaton, on Aug. 21, 1951, in Rossville, Ga. He worked at Quaker Oats as a security guard for 35 years. He retired from Quaker Oats to spend time with his grandchildren.
He enjoyed his first Harley-Davidson motorcycle, eating sweets, listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash, and playing his guitar. There was not an instrument he could not play. Most importantly, Marvin loved the time he spent with his family.
Marvin is survived by his children, Sue (Michael) Frye of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jennie Galvin of Idaho and Marvin (Margaret) Baumgartner of Dubuque, Iowa; four grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Samantha and Dylan; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Francis; his parents; and the remainder of his siblings.
