Marian Margaret (Hall) Janss, 93, formerly of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away July 7, 2018, at Larchwood Inns Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center, Grand Junction, Colo.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, with Pastor Kate West officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday
at the funeral home.

Marian Margaret was born Sept. 22, 1924, to George D. and Edith E. (Kosta) Hall in Belle Plaine, Iowa. She graduated from Belle Plaine in 1942 and attended Soiney Business College. Following college, she worked in Chicago at Montgomery Wards as a stenographer. On Feb. 1, 1945, she married Don E. Janss in New Brunswick, N.J., at Camp Kilmer. Shortly after marriage, she moved home to Belle Plaine to make their home and await Don's return from the war.
Marian enjoyed volunteering over the years. She spent many hours volunteering for Harris Greenhouse, her children's school, different churches that she was a member of, including teaching vacation Bible school. She also was a Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout den mother and a past president of the Legion Auxiliary. Of all her volunteering, she was most proud of her 14 years with Novak Elementary in Marion, which she won the Governors Volunteer Award.
She is survived by her children, David Janss of Reseda, Calif., and Teresa (Rodney Anderson) Janss-Anderson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Sam (Lilana) Dolphin of Alameda, Calif., Niccole Gray of Grand Junction, Colo., Aaron Janss of Clifton, Colo., Jordan (Sam Rodriguez) Sherwood of Marion, Amber Baker of Iowa City, Sara (Nate) Neuhaus of Marion, Taylor Baker of Cedar Rapids, and Samantha Anderson of Wilton; great-grandchildren, Beckham, Prince, Deirdre, Cora, Gabe and Finley; sister, Lorraine Schneider of Elmwood, Wis.; and many more loving family and friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Billie Janss.
