Lowery, Alma 'Lucille'
Alma “Lucille” Lowery, 88, of Cedar Rapids, went to her heavenly home Sunday, April 11, 2010. Services: noon Saturday at Christian Church, Urbana, by the Rev. Fred Darbonne. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, before the service.
Lucille was born in Urbana, Iowa, on May 3, 1921, to Willard and Alma (Cumberland) Burrell. She graduated from Urbana School. She married Loren D. Lowery on Aug. 8, 1940. This union was blessed with five children.
She is survived by sons, Lyle (Donna) Lowery and Bradley (Roberta) Lowery of Cedar Rapids, and Burrell (Catherine) Lowery of North Andover, Mass.; daughters, Shirley (Robert) Rinehart of Victor, and Sherry (Harlan) Burke of Guernsey; half brother, J Dee (Karen) Burrell of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; half sister, Jeannette (Bob) Brunson of Simi Valley, Calif.; niece, Joyce (Harry) Herrmann of Gravois Mill, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren in 2001; her parents; a great-grandchild; and a half sister, Donna Egle.
The Lowerys made their home around Urbana before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1964. They retired to Florida in 1983. Lucille moved back to Cedar Rapids in 2007. She was an active member of her church and enjoyed her family and corresponding with friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lucille's name to: Hospice of Mercy, 315 19th Ave., Hiawatha or First Christian Church, 840 Third Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids.
