Karen M. Brown, 64, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Olathe, Kan., passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.
Karen was born Dec. 10, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Rosemary (Kramer) Tegeler. She attended Xavier grade school and graduated from Beckman High School in Dyersville, with the Class of 1972. Karen worked for various companies in Cedar Rapids as an accountant, and most recently at OMC in Olathe.
Karen was a strong and passionate person loved by her family and those around her. She loved to travel and go on road trips with friends. She also loved do-it-yourself projects, knitting, laughing, and to make those around her laugh. Her life was not always easy, but she always managed to make the best of things.
After several trial and errors at love, she married her childhood sweetheart, Brian Brown. Brian took care of Karen and did his very best to make her comfortable prior to cancer taking her to her maker.
Karen is survived by her husband, Brian; a stepson, Scott Brown; and his son, Xander of Edgerton, Kan.; her siblings, Mark Tegeler of Dyersville, Linda (Dan) Hoerner of Dubuque, Janice (Mark) Furst of Fort Atkinson, Wis., and Gary Tegeler of Dubuque; in-laws; outlaws; her best friend, Carolyn Walsh; her nieces and nephews, Jeff and Jodi Tegeler, Carlie and Gretta Hoerner, and Britta, Tenley and Gretchen Haraldson; a great-niece, Maddie Tegeler; and her two great-nephews, Max Tegeler and Ivar Spring.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a
sister-in-law, Deb Tegeler.
Karen touched the lives of many, is loved and will be greatly missed.
Per Karen's wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the charity of choice in memory of her.
