Henrietta Miller

Iowa City

Henrietta B. Miller, 91, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
Services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018, at
11 a.m. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Friday
until services. Entombment will be at Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Johnson County 4-H. For a more complete obituary, to share a thought, memory or condolence, please visit the funeral home website at www.gayandciha.com.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Gene and Kathy Miller of Iowa City; one daughter and her husband, Janice and Karl Schmidt of Ely; five grandchildren, Trevor Miller (Jessica), Taylor Goemaat (Ben), Tanner Miller (Katie), Matthew Schmidt and Caleb Schmidt (Allie); four great-grandchildren, Edward Miller, Fiona Miller, Samuel Goemaat and Aubrey Goemaat; and one sister, Delores Longwell-Aller (Lloyd).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel P. Miller.
Henrietta was born July 21, 1926, in rural Iowa City, the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Meka) Frauenholtz. She graduated from Iowa City High in 1943 and attended Brown's Business College in Iowa City. Henrietta married Samuel P. Miller on Aug. 31, 1945, in Iowa City.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City, Johnson County Farm Bureau and Eastern Star. She served as a 4-H leader for the North Scott Lassies 4-H club, worked for the University of Iowa for approximately 36 years, was secretary for the Scott Township Country grade schools and farmed along with her husband in rural Iowa City on what was once her parents' farm. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, camping, traveling, attending Hawkeye football and basketball games and spending time with family and friends.
Henrietta's family would like to extend a very sincere and special thank-you to all at Bickford Cottage for their loving care of our mother and family for the past two years!
