Heiserman, Mary Susan

Mary Susan Heiserman, 67, of Minneapolis, died April 8, 2010, at Bright Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines. A visitation will be held at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 12. A private burial will be held in Monticello at Oakwood Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Minneapolis at Mary's Church, St. Paul's Episcopal.

She is survived by her niece, Susan (Tim) McDermott, and their children, Paige, Courtney and Griffin, all of Waukee, Iowa; her nephew, John Banes of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ruth Heiserman; and her sister, Ann Heiserman.

Mary was born July 12, 1942, to John Edward and Ruth Heiserman. She was raised in Anamosa. Mary received her Ph.D. from Michigan State University in psychology in 1971. She pursued her career as a therapist and manager of programs in Denver and then at the Wilder Clinic in St. Paul, Minn., where she directed children's mental health programs for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
