Geraldine A. Gorman, 61, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Jan. 29, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. A public visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required. A private family funeral service will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for Geraldine, under the video tab, starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021.
Geraldine Ann Klostermann was born on April 18, 1959, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Alice (Wall) Klostermann. After graduating from nursing school at Mount Mercy, she married Michael Gorman on June 15, 1985. To this union two children were born. Geraldine continued nursing at Northbrook Manor for 35 years as assistant director of nursing.
Geri had a passion for serving others. She had a charm that put everyone at ease and even made the smallest of encounters memorable. Geri had an infectious, positive nature with the hopes of her light passing on through us. She will be greatly missed by all her family, friends, coworkers and her chosen family, the "30th street gang."
Left to cherish Geri's memories are her two children, Heather Gorman and Nathan (Michelle) Gorman; granddaughter, Skye; sisters, Geralyn Puccio, Judy (Galen) Harms, Mary (Lee) Hinderman, Lois (David) Gavn, Jean Weber and Jan Beaman; brothers, Bud, Chuck Brietbach, Smiley (Linda) Klostermann, Leo (Carol) Klostermann and Gary Klostermann; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael, and his family; along with several brothers and sisters.
