Earl Johnston, 97, of Chelsea, Iowa, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Kent Cemetery, Brooklyn, Iowa, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com.
Earl was born Dec. 26, 1920, to Harlan and Adela (Moravec) Johnston on the family farm south of Chelsea. He attended country school near Chelsea. Earl served in the U.S. Air Force in India as a mechanic from October 1942 to December 1945. After his service to his country, he went back to the family farm, where he hauled livestock and farmed. In 2013, Earl moved to Belle Plaine Specialty Care until his passing.
Earl loved to play cards and gamble at the Meskwaki Casino.
Earl is survived by many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.
