Dorothy B. Kuzemka
Dorothy B. Kuzemka, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, at St. George Orthodox Church in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26, at the church from 4 to 7 p.m., with Trisagion Prayers beginning at 7 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Michael's Greek Catholic Cemetery in Donora, Pa. Brosh Chapel and the Avacentre in Cedar Rapids are caring for Dorothy and her family.
Dorothy was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Donora, Pa., the daughter of Michael and Barbara (Wasas) Takach. She married William Kuzemka on June 9, 1956, in Donora. Dorothy completed her nursing degree right after high school and held many different positions in her nearly 50-year career, her last job being house supervisor. She lived her entire life south of Pittsburgh, until she followed a daughter to Iowa and spent the last six years living at Keystone Place. Dorothy loved playing cards, shopping, playing games and spending time with her family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barbara Baker (Dan) of Valrico, Fla., and Debra Boehm (Kurt) of Marion, Iowa; her grandchildren, Danielle Barney (Steve) of Orlando, Fla., and Roman, Alexy and Slava Boehm; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Barbara (Wasas) Takach; her beloved husband, William; and her brother, Stephen Takach.
