Donna D. Manson, 93, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at Lexington Estate in Independence. She was born in Buchanan County, Iowa, on Dec. 29, 1926, the daughter of Wade Elmer and Louise Emma (Holle) Crawford. She attended the Buchanan County country schools. On Nov. 23, 1950, she and Virgil Everett Manson were married in Quasqueton, Iowa. He preceded her in
death in 2017. They farmed in Buchanan County until retiring. Mrs. Manson always had a garden and canned and froze her produce. She was a child care provider in her later years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Manson is survived by one son, Virgil (Kaye) Manson of Rowley, Iowa; one daughter, Shirley (Roger) Allen of Independence; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert "Sam" Crawford and Don Crawford, both of Independence.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Crawford and Caryel Crawford; and three sisters, LaVon Fisher, Wylmarie Rasmussen and Norine Crawford.
Graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, with the Rev. Greg DeBoer officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. Online condolences may be left at www.white-mthope.com.
