Donald Krotz, 62, of Ainsworth, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at his home in Ainsworth. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Riverside. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Following the committal service at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary’s Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Washington County Hospice or the Ainsworth Fire and Rescue in memory of Donald. Donald Dean Krotz was born on March 12, 1961, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Walter Leroy and Doris Jean (Reha) Krotz. He was a 1979 graduate of Highland High School. On Sept. 27, 1980, Donald was united in marriage to Linda Eagle at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. Donald owned and operated Don Krotz Masonry Inc. and also worked for the City of Ainsworth and Atrium Village in Hills. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed trapping in his youth, fishing, mushroom hunting, the outdoors, working on cars and brewing his own beer.
Donald will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda of Ainsworth; his children, Nathan (Jessica) Krotz of Ainsworth, Holly (Andrew) Moreland of West Liberty and Elliot Krotz of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Ethan Krotz, Jack Krotz and Oden Moreland; mother, Doris Krotz of Washington; and siblings, Christy (Gary) Gutierrez of Mount Vernon, Julie (Joe) Stransky of Riverside, Theresa (Dallas) Shalla of Riverside, Susan (John) Pacha of Washington, Dan Krotz of Hills, Debra (David) McGuire of Washington and Darlene (Andy) Morlan of Tiffin.
Donald was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Geneva Krotz; maternal grandparents, Edwin and Adeline Reha; father, Walter Krotz; and son, William Krotz, in infancy.
