Donald J. Dippel, 73, of Waukesha, Wis., formerly of Marion, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021. A private service will be held Friday, Jan. 29, at St. Joseph's Church in Marion. No visitation will be held.
Survivors include his sister, Mari Dougherty; and a cousin, John Rasmussen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Donald Dippel.
Don graduated from Marion High School in 1965 and was on the wrestling team. He later graduated from the Art Institute of Kansas City and had a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He taught several years in the art department at the University of Texas-San Antonio. He later returned to Marion and continued to pursue his art work as well as working at various manufacturing jobs.
While growing up in Marion, Don was fortunate to have made lifelong friends with Mike Huntoon and Terry Keenan. Later, he had very close friendship with Pam and Tim Dorgan.
