Dennis A. Fitzpatrick, 58, of Marion, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at his home in Marion. Family will greet friends and family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, where a visitation will take place one hour prior. The Rev. David O’Connor will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Dennis was born on April 11, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Thomas and Joan (Gorman) Fitzpatrick. He was a 1982 graduate of LaSalle High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. On May 8, 1993, Dennis was united in marriage to Teresa Ann Mohwinkle at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He was a very talented portrait artist who had a great sense of humor. Dennis was intelligent and hard working. He enjoyed watching a good comedy, history and sci-fi. Dennis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dennis is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Teresa of Marion; daughter, Hannah Rose of Marion; beloved granddaughter, Chelsie Therese; and five siblings, Chris Milner (Mark) of Beaverton, Ore., Tim Fitzpatrick (Denise) of Fairfax, Iowa, Jeff Fitzpatrick (Carrie) of Hiawatha, Iowa, Rene Melchior (Dan) of Cypress, Texas, and his twin Denise Fitzpatrick of Elkhorn, Wis.; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Mary Mohwinkle; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Abbie Fitzpatrick; infant great-nephew, Daxton; brother-in-law, Mark Mohwinkle; sister-in-law, Pamela Mohwinkle; and father-in-law, Dale Mohwinkle.
