Dean James Ledvina, 64, of Chelsea, Iowa, passed away on Dec. 30, 2021, at his home.
Dean was born Jan. 13, 1957, to James and Sharlene "Skip" Ledvina in Marshalltown, Iowa. Growing up on the family farm in rural Chelsea, Dean graduated from South Tama High School, class of 1975. Continuing his education, Dean graduated from the dairy management program at Iowa Lakes Community College. Following school,
Dean worked for American Breeder Service, moving to Wisconsin to continue work and operate as an independent contractor for several years before moving to Houston, Texas, (1986) to try the warmer weather. Eventually moving back home to be closer to family and help with the farm.
Going back to college, Dean completed his training as an electrical drafter. Moving to Arkansas as a draftsman for a short time before moving back home to help take care of his parents. Upon returning home, he worked a few odd jobs before working in the insurance industry.
In his younger years, Dean enjoyed hunting, trapping, and the livestock he cared for. Dean was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his brothers, Charles Ledvina of Chelsea and Kenneth (Marcia) Ledvina of Avoca, Iowa; and nephew, Daniel Ledvina.
Dean was preceded in death his parents.
Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, with Deacon Joe Dvorak officiating. Burial will take place at Stayskal Cemetery, Chelsea.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
