Dave Heck, 63, of Marion, Iowa, died March 25, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital following a massive stroke. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at Ascension Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Katie Lowe Lancaster. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at the American Legion, Marion.
Dave was born on Nov. 10, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Joyce and Lon Heck. He graduated from Alburnett High School, Class of 1978. He retired from Burnet Concrete Construction, after working there for many years. Dave married Deb Henderson on Aug. 9, 2003.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting for mushrooms, making salsa and pickles and spending time with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. Even in death, Dave was able to spread joy to others through organ donation.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Mitchell; girlfriend, Julie Harness; step-daughter, Nicole Kimmerle; grandchildren, Lucas, Reagan and Kennedy; siblings, Mark Heck (Jeanne), Teresa Preston, Dan Mitchell (Wanda), Vicki Mitchell (Raymond), Brenda Morillo (Travis) and Chad Heck (Danielle).
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Deb (Henderson) Heck; and his father, Lon Heck.
