Carolyn Peters, 89, of Marion, formerly of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
Funeral services for Carolyn Peters will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at Bethany Alliance Church in Charles City, with Pastor Coulter Page officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Carolyn Clara (Sankey) Peters, the daughter of Dennis and Ethel (Dekraii) Sankey, was born on June 24, 1933, in Chandler, Minn. She received her education in the Chandler Schools and Edgerton Schools. On Feb. 7, 1957, Carolyn was united in marriage to John Peters in Chandler, Minn. The couple made their home in Chandler for nine years before moving to Charles City in 1966. Carolyn was a homemaker and later worked at the Department of Human Services for many years.
Carolyn was a member of Bethany Alliance Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her family.
Living family members include her four daughters, Carla Green of Marion, Darla Moon of Marion, Rhonda (Randy) Smith of Ramsey, Minn., and Lisa (Jon) Thibault of St. Anthony, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Julia Schuur, Jean Sebek, Evelyn Jordan, Erma Kladek and Phyllis Moser; brother, Willard Sankey; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, in 2015; one granddaughter, Krysta Moon; and two brothers, Harold and Arnold Sankey.
