Carol Joan Kramer

Cedar Rapids

Carol Joan Kramer, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Murphy. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. with a vigil to follow at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday after 9 a.m.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Tina (Doug) Fulton of West Des Moines; two sons, Jim (Amy) Kramer of Marion and Mark (Diane) Kramer of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Kylie, Tyler and Olivia Fulton, Derek, Kristin Kramer and Corey and Evan and Jackson Kramer; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Nievas and JoAnn Kramer both of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her husband, James, in 1996; brother, Roland Nievas; and brother-in-law, Jack Kramer.
Carol was born June 18, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Earl and Rynilda Roeder Nievas. She graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1951. Carol married James Kramer on Oct. 19, 1957, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. She worked in the lunchroom at St. Jude School for 20 years, retiring in 1998. Carol also ran the kitchen at the Sweet Corn Festival for many years. She had a very strong faith and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Carol loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her dogs. She enjoyed baking, tending to her beautiful flowers, vacationing with her family, working at the Sweet Corn Festival, bowling with her friends in a weekly bowling league and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family.
