Boerhave, Carol J.
Carol J. Boerhave, 73, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home.
Carol was born May 19, 1936, in Pocahontas, Iowa, the daughter of Chris and Dorothy (Plantz) Peterson. She attended Ware Consolidated Schools in Ware, Iowa from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1954. Following high school, Carol earned her teaching certificate from Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., and went on to teach elementary education from 1956–1961. On Nov. 21, 1961, Carol married Dale Boerhave in Pocahontas and for the better part of the next 20 years, Carol worked in various retail and manufacturing jobs while also raising a family. In her free time, Carol enjoyed gardening, music, art and especially spending time with her loving family.
Carol is survived by her husband, Dale of North Liberty; and their three children: a son, Scott Boerhave of North Liberty, and two daughters, Natasha (Steven) Parris of Coralville and Tanya Boerhave of Iowa City; two sisters, Hazel Peterson of Newton and Joan (Al) Foote of Baxter; and a stepgrandson, Ben Parris of Clear Lake.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, David Peterson.
