Middle Amana

Beverly "Bev" A. Birk, 79, of Middle Amana, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, from a sudden illness. Celebration of Life: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at P.H.A.T. Daddy's Restaurant in Amana. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Bev was born July 28, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of James Dimitrious and Frances Plattner. On May 30, 1957, she was united in marriage to Philip Birk.
Bev spent the majority of her life chasing and collecting train memorabilia with Phil. Together Bev, Phil and their daughters ran the Kane County RailRoadiana Show for 30 years. She was an animal lover and especially enjoyed cats. Anyone who had the opportunity to know Bev was lucky to have known a strong woman with a huge heart. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
