Betty Louise Schulte


Betty Louise Schulte, 91, of Norway, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway with Father Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway. Visitation
is 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at the church.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Betty was born Feb. 11, 1927, to George and Rose (Spellerberg) Tehel in rural Fairfax, Iowa. She graduated from Norway High School as the valedictorian. Following school, she worked at Western Grocery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On May 25, 1950, Betty married Edward C. Schulte at St. Michael's Church in Norway. The couple was blessed with a family of four. Betty took time to raise her family. Once her children were a little older she went to work for Ced-Rel Supper Club and Amana Furniture Store. Betty also was a remarkable self-employed seamstress.
Betty enjoyed interacting with the many people she met through her various jobs. She also liked playing cards, crossword puzzles, cooking and baking, reading and enjoying nature.
She was dedicated to family and loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a charitable person who donated to many organizations.
Betty was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters, in which she served as secretary, St. Michael's Catholic Church and a former member of the Norway Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons, Randy, Michael and Martin; daughter, Julie (Doug) Plummer; grand-children, Timothy (Paige) Plummer and Sarah (CJ) Plummer; great-grandchildren, Jayln, Jayce, Jaxon, Eddy and Cora Plummer, all of Norway; and many more loving family and friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; and brothers, Chester and Glenn Tehel.
