Betty Marie Draker, 90, of Marion, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at Bickford Cottage, Marion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom with a vigil starting at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the the Rev. Phil Thompson. Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hills, Iowa.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Susan) Draker of Marion, Robert (Roxy) Draker of Cedar Rapids, Susan (Edward) Colby of Marion and James (Kim) Draker of Palo; six grandchildren, Jeffery (Diana) Draker, Amy (Clint) Houdek, Danielle Draker, Steven (Megan) Colby, Madison and Colton Draker; and seven great-grandchildren, M'Lynn and Kane Kurtz, Hannah, Cael and Hudson Draker, Kailey Houdek and Jackson Reed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Neal Blok; her husband, Charles Joseph Draker; her brothers, Bernard Blok and Richard Blok; and her grandson, Kody Corum.
Betty was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of Neal and Mary (Gunderson) Blok. She graduated from Marion High School in 1945. She married Charles J. Draker of Springville on June 18, 1946, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Betty worked at Collins Radio after she was married and later was a nursing secretary for Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids from 1970 to 1988. She was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and American Legion Post Auxiliary in Marion. Betty enjoyed sewing, crafts and her flower gardens. She was a wonderful mother and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
