Audrey L. Murphy, 94, of Iowa City, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City on Dec. 16, 2020.
Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, the funeral Mass and burial will be private. Audrey's wish was for friends to make a contribution to

Audrey Louise Murphy was born June 21, 1926, in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Olga (Braun) Rahfaldt. She attended Sibley High School. Audrey met Aloysious "Al" Murphy and the two later married on May 1, 1941, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. At the time of AL's passing in 2009, Audrey and Al had celebrated 68 years of marriage.
She worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics information desk for 29 years – retiring in 1988. After her retirement, Audrey and Al enjoyed many years of traveling – both within the U.S., but also throughout Europe and Hawaii. Audrey was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and very much enjoyed antiquing, doll collecting and playing cards. Both Audrey and Al were true Hawkeyes fans, being longtime season ticket holders as well as traveling to many away games and bowl games.
She is survived by her children, Alan Murphy (Aleta) of Iowa City and Judy Martin of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; a grandson, Sean Martin (Tawnya) of Windsor, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ella and Lilly; and several nieces and nephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Al; a son, Gary Murphy; brothers, Lloyd, and his wife, Marie; brother, Floyd, and his wife, Margaret; sister, Della Cramer, and her husband, Frank; three grandchildren, Grant Martin, Kyle Martin and Craig Martin; and a son-in-law, Joseph Martin.
