Arlene C. Takes, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed to eternal rest Thursday, March 9, 2023. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 24, at St. Pius X Church, with funeral Mass following. A graveside service at Mount Calvary Cemetery immediately after Mass.
Arlene was born on Sept. 17, 1937. She began her career at Clinton Engines where she met her husband, Earl Takes. Her greatest love was being a housewife, raising their six children, along with showering their 20 grandchildren with the same love and attention. She continued as a bookkeeper and shared in the responsibilities of Professional Repair & Remodeling and Emerson Delivery.
Arlene always had a special kind of luck. Her home was forever tidy and her kitchen fully stocked. She endured a lot and showed great toughness through all of life’s trials. Her faith carried her and sustained her through the end.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl; siblings, Tommy, Ronnie, RoseAnn and Loras (Dutsy).
Surviving siblings, Ken Koppes and Jim Koppes. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Koppes and Frances (Moorman) Koppes and stepmother, Erma (Kelchen) Koppes.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dan (Debbie) Takes, Sue (Mike) Gillen, Steve (Courtney) Takes, Dave (Jill) Takes, LeeAnn (Dan) O’Keefe and Diana (Mike) Haake.
