Alan Mengler was born on April 15, 1936, to Stanley Mengler and Mildred Mullinex Bamsey in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a CWO4 after 35 years. He was united in marriage to Barbra Hurt on Dec. 12, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Al had worked at Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric, both as a service technician and accountant supervisor in Cedar Rapids and Davenport, Iowa. (Vincent) Paez of Maryland; grandchildren, Lindsey (Bryce) Fisher, Tara Wolf, Mindie Bushey, Elisha Mengler, Philip Mengler, Garrett Mengler, Brett Mengler and Allie Mengler; and six great-grandchildren.
