Woman found dead inside burning Cedar Rapids home

CEDAR RAPIDS - A woman was found dead inside a burning mobile home Sunday, authorities said.

The name of the victim, an adult woman, has not yet been released.

Firefighters were called to a mobile home fire at 2309 Kelly Street SW at 7:13 p.m. Sunday. There, crews encountered a mobile home that was fully engulfed at the back half of the structure.

During the search and rescue operation, an adult woman was found inside the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the fire department.

The cause and manner of the death and the fire are both under investigation by the Medical Examiner's Office and the fire investigator.

Cedar Rapids spokeswoman Maria Johnson said identification of the victim or information on her cause of death will not be released until the autopsy is complete. The autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
