UPDATE: A Parnell woman is accused of prohibited acts involving a controlled substance after Iowa City Police say she allegedly failed to properly document the removal of pain medication at Mercy Iowa City in 2008.
A report filed with the Johnson County Clerk of Court on Wednesday indicates Lisa L. Jones, 41, of 2976 F52 Trail, allegedly removed one Oxycodone tablet from each of two patients' automated medication dispensing systems at the facility on Oct. 13, 2008.
Iowa City Police say that Jones allegedly removed the medications at 3:19 p.m. and 3:25 p.m., but did not document anything in the patients' records to indicate that she had removed or administered the medication.
Neither of the patients' charts showed that they had complaints of pain around the time that the medication was removed from their medication dispensing systems, Iowa City police said.
Mercy Iowa City representatives say that Jones was no longer employed at the facility as of October 14, 2008.
Further investigation to the matter revealed that Jones was allegedly found to have 73 medication discrepancies that were not properly documented involving another patient at the facility in February and March of 2008.
Jones was held at the Johnson County Jail Friday and was released to the Iowa Department of Corrections Saturday, Johnson County Sheriff's Office records indicate.
