UPDATE: Police said a Tennessee man turned himself in just minutes after he tried to rob a Cedar Rapids bar and cut a patron in the process.
Tony Gordon, 33, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault during a felony. Police said Gordon presented a small knife around 2 a.m. at Just Coz, 402 Sixth St. SW, during the robbery attempt.
Witnesses told police the suspect cut a female patron with a knife, but did not get any money before fleeing the scene. The patron, Donna Urban, 58, suffered a minor cut to the right side of her neck, but did not need to be transported to a hospital, police said.
The suspect reportedly went westbound on Fourth Avenue SW. He was spotted at various locations, and a K-9 unit was called to the scene, but he was not immediately located.
About 15 minutes after the incident was reported, Gordon called 911 from near Kingston Stadium and said he wanted to talk to police. He was arrested and taken to the Linn County Jail.
An investigation was continuing.
