Services set for longtime Iowa labor, Democratic activist Sterzenbach

CEDAR RAPIDS — Services for longtime Cedar Rapids labor and Democratic Party activist Norm Sterzenbach have been scheduled for Wednesday by his family.
A visitation for Sterzenbach, who died July 28, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 2 at IBEW Local 405 Henry Miller Hall, 1211 Wiley Blvd. SW, Cedar Rapids. The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral Home and Memorial Services.
Sterzenbach, 71, an Evansville, Ind., native, was long active in labor and Democratic Party issues and campaigns. Thursday evening, he received a standing ovation when the Iowa Democratic Party presented him with its 'Outstanding Supporter' award at its annual Hall of Fame event. He was inducted in the Linn County Democratic Party Hall of Fame in 2013.

He is survived by his sons, Norman and Jesse, a sister, Tudy Cundiff, many friends and union brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Hawkeye Area Labor Council for apprenticeship programs, the Iowa Democratic Party or Discovery Living.
