One hurt when car crashes into utility pole in Cedar Rapids

Authorities said a Cedar Rapids woman was hurt in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon.

Amanda L. Christopherson, 21, of Cedar Rapids, was westbound around 4:25 p.m. when she lost control of her car on a curve in the 3800 block of Cottage Grove Avenue SE, according to the Linn County sheriff's office. The car went into the north ditch where it struck a utility pole.

Christopherson was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital. Her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, deputies said.

The lone passenger in the car, Darryl D. Johnson, of Cedar Rapids, declined medical treatment at the scene. Authorities said both occupants were wearing their seat belts.

Deputies cited Christopherson for failure to maintain control.
