One dead in grain bin entrapment near Williamsburg

Rescuers found the man buried in about 10 feet of corn Friday
WILLIAMSBURG — A man died Friday after being buried in grain northwest of Williamsburg, according to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office.
Iowa County emergency responders were called to 2172 M Ave. for a report of a grain bin entrapment at 7:30 a.m. .
Rescuers worked for about an hour to find the man, whose name is to be released Saturday, the sheriff’s office said.

The man was buried in about 10 feet of corn. He was declared dead at the scene.
The grain bin involved was a 20,000-bushel capacity bin owned by Kinze Manufacturing and leased to Circle J Grain of Williamsburg, according to the release.
In February, four people, including the former mayor of Iowa City, were rescued from a potentially fatal grain bin rupture near Mount Vernon in Linn County.
