Marion power outage Monday caused by contractor hitting power line

MARION — The power was out in parts of Uptown Marion Monday morning after a contractor hit a power line on 12th Street, next to city hall.
Marion City Hall, the Marion Public Library and Vernon Middle School were affected by the power outage, as well as some neighboring homes.
In total, 57 Alliant Energy customers lost power before 7 a.m., according to a Facebook post from the city.

The city reported that power was restored at 10:15 a.m. City Hall remained closed for the day. The library closed, but planned to reopen at 1 p.m.
