Man rescued from Iowa River, likely went over Burlington Street dam

Aug. 17, 2016 3:22 pm
IOWA CITY - A man was pulled out of the Iowa River Wednesday morning.
Iowa City Deputy Fire Chief Roger Jensen said a man was found sitting on a pile of logs in the Iowa River just south of the Burlington Street dam around 5:23 a.m. Wednesday. Jensen said firefighters believe the man went over the dam, but authorities do not know how that took place and there were no witnesses.
Using a ladder truck, the fire department lowered a rescuer to the man, who was lifted up with a harness. He was then turned over to the Johnson County Ambulance Service, Jensen said.
