Man hurt in Cedar Rapids apartment explosion

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Bomb Squad was called in to investigate an apartment blast that injured a man Friday.
At around 5 p.m., the Cedar Rapids Fire Department received reports of an explosion at an apartment complex at 2107 Blairs Ferry Rd NE.
According to a fire department news release, firefighters found a 46-year-old man with multiple injuries in a third-floor apartment. He was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital, and then airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The man's current condition is unknown.
The building was searched, and the other occupants in the building were evacuated. No other victims were found, the release said.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
