Although Linn County officials believe the public is not in danger, a notice was sent out regarding a sexual assault that took place at a residence in northeastern Linn County, reminding people to lock their doors.
According to the news release issued Friday, a victim was sexually assaulted at a home north of Prairieburg Monday afternoon. The victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office said the incident is currently under investigation, but the assault is believed to be an isolated incident and there's no reason to believe the public's safety is in jeopardy.
The report stated no additional sexual assaults have been reported. Additional calls in northeastern Linn County have been limited to traffic incidents, narcotics violations, and thefts from unlocked vehicles and thefts of electronics while at school.
Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner said he encourages citizens to report any suspicious activity to police.
