A 59-year-old Iowa City man is accused of OWI and child endangerment without injury after Iowa City Police say he was in a traffic accident while allegedly under the influence and had a child inside the vehicle with him.
Reports indicate that Edward P. Loman, of 1432 Wild Prairie Drive, crossed the center line before approaching a turn and struck an oncoming vehicle at approximately 6:11 p.m. near Rohert Road and Duck Creek Drive on Friday evening.
Neither vehicle could be driven away from the scene and a juvenile child was in Loman's vehicle at the time of the accident, Iowa City Police said.
Iowa City Police noted Loman as smelling of alcohol, having bloodshot eyes, staggering, being nervous and having fumbled around with paperwork.
Loman failed field sobriety tests, blew a .169 during a preliminary breath test and registered a blood alcohol content of .179, Iowa City Police said.
Loman was held at the Johnson County Jail following the accident. He was later released.
