CORALVILLE - Police charged 26-year-old Aaron Fisher after witnesses said he was pretending to be a “sheriff.”
Coralville Police Chief Barry Bedford says Fisher and some people in another car weren't getting along as they all drove south on Highway 965 on November 3. When the car pulled into the Hy-Vee gas station in the 2000 block of Highway 6 Bedford says Fisher followed them into the parking lot.
The chief says at that time Fisher identified himself as a “sheriff.” Bedford says Fisher then started writing down the driver's license plate number and at one time displayed a BB gun pistol. The people in the other car started to get suspicious and later reported Fisher's license plate number to police.
He's charged with impersonating a public fficial, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.
