Iowa adds 2,148 COVID-19 cases
Cases, hospitalizations and deaths all down from previous week

Iowa on Wednesday reported 2,148 new COVID-19 cases in the past week, a 39 percent decrease from last week’s 3,493 cases.
The actual total is likely much higher, given the availability of at-home test kits, the results of which are not reported to the state.
In Linn County, 192 COVID-19 cases were reported in the past week, down from 327 reported the previous week. The county has recorded 63,367 cases since March 2020, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Johnson County added 120 cases last week, down from 207 the previous week. The county has recorded 43,973 cases since the start of the pandemic.
To date, 886,411 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Iowa since the pandemic first was detected in the state in March 2020.
Deaths
The state confirmed 36 deaths from COVID-19 in the past week, including two in Linn County. The previous week, the state reported 44 deaths.
Since March 2020, 10,423 Iowans have died from COVID-19. In Linn County, 648 people have died of COVID-19 in that time period.
Hospitalizations
Hospitalizations from the virus decreased by 11 percent to 243, down from 272 the previous week.
The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units also decreased from 31 to 20, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
