The interchange at Interstate 380 and Interstate 80 has reopened after a semi-trailer truck tipped onto its side Tuesday morning.
The semi was rounding the on-ramp from I-380 southbound towards I-80 eastbound just before noon Tuesday when it tipped, spilling approximately 250 gallons of chemical additive onto the roadway.
Tiffin Fire and Rescue workers said one 250-gallon container carrying the liquid, a chemical additive to Tide laundry detergent, spilled onto the roadway. It was confirmed the liquid was non-toxic and biodegradable.
The southbound exit from Interstate 380 to the on ramp for eastbound I-80 was blocked by the semi, rerouting traffic onto Highway 6. It reopened around 1 p.m., when a wrecker separated the trailer and and towed the semi.
There is no word yet on what caused the accident. No injuries were reported.
