Hawkeye Hotels buys Holiday Inn in Cedar Rapids

Iowa City-based Hawkeye Hotels has purchased the Holiday Inn Express North in Cedar Rapids, the company announced Thursday.

The Holiday Inn site, at 1230 Collins Rd. NE near Interstate 380, has 83 rooms. A $1.5 million exterior and interior removation project was completed in spring 2016.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Privately owned Hawkeye Hotels, with this deal, now owns 14 hotels in the state and employs some 300, the company said in a statement.

Hawkeye Hotels owns and operates more than 50 hotels across the country.

'We are thrilled to invest more in Eastern Iowa and we hope to continue to spur the economy in the Corridor,” President of Hawkeye Hotels President Ravi Patel said. 'We believe the Holiday Inn Express North plays a critical role in aiding the progress that Cedar Rapids economy has made in recent years and will continue to make.”
