A Grinnell woman is facing a felony theft charge after allegedly conning a man out $1,050 for prime Iowa-Nebraska football tickets on Craigslist that were never delivered.
According to a criminal complaint, the victim responded to a posting on the Iowa City Craigslist page August 13 promising tickets on the 30-yard line for the game, set for Nov. 25 in Lincoln. Tabitha Sue Jensen, 28, of 304 East Street S. in Grinnell, responded to the victim stating she was the seller's girlfriend, police said.
Police reported after the victim charged a $375 deposit to his Visa that day. The remaining $675 balance was charged Sept. 14, and he still hadn't received the tickets.
The victim said he only communicated with Jensen, who he only knew as "Tabitha," police said.
Jensen was served with a subpoena as the person involved in the ticket fraud. She is charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony.
