CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Police Department will take part in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 30.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the front lobby of the police station, 505 First St. SW. There, citizens will be able to drop off old, unwanted or expired prescription medications anonymously and without questions asked. Those medications will then be collected and properly disposed.
The police department also has a permanent drug disposal box in the vestibule of the police station. Authorities say drug drop off boxes promote the proper disposal of prescription drugs, which protects water quality and prevents potential drug misuse and abuse.
A drug take back event in September netted 393 pounds of medications.
