Cedar Rapids police investigate indecent exposure incident

Police are investigating reports that an unidentified man exposed himself and acted in a lewd manner in a woman's Cedar Rapids apartment.

At 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a call from a woman at 66 Miller Ave. SW No. 2, who said a man had knocked on her door explaining he was locked out of his residence and was looking for a phone to use, Cedar Rapids Police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said.

According to the woman, the man was wearing only a black sweatshirt and socks, and had no pants on, Hamblin said.

Reports indicated that the woman let the man inside, then gave him a towel to cover himself and a phone. The man then began masturbating before leaving the apartment.

The caller said she didn't know the subject, and was rightfully frightened, Hamblin said.

The man is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brown hair. No further information was immediately available.
