May. 8, 2015 10:20 pm
A Cedar Rapids man pleaded guilty Thursday to breaking an infant's ribs and a leg in 2014.
Kirk Allen Davis, 23, pleaded guilty to three counts of child endangerment causing bodily injury between May 27 and June 26, 2014. He admitted during the hearing to using unreasonable force to cause injuries to a 7-week-old. The infant's ribs, a leg and shin bone were broken. He also admitted to bruising the child's face in one incident.
Davis faces up to 15 years in prison.

Sixth Judicial District Senior Judge Thomas Koehler asked Davis how did this happen to a 7-week-old.
Davis said he let his 'emotions, his stress get the better of me.”
Jeremy Elges, Davis' attorney, said a factor in the injuries could have been a genetic disorder that caused the child to have brittle bones. Davis wasn't aware of the disorder until the injuries were inflicted, Elges said.
Assistant Linn County Attorney Nic Scott said the other charge of child endangerment causing serious injury would be dismissed per the plea agreement at the time of sentencing.
Sentencing is set July 13 in Linn County District Court.
