CEDAR RAPIDS – The woman killed Friday night in Cedar Rapids died of stab wounds to the head and neck, officials said.
Police and and medical examiners have ruled the death of Cathy A. Stickley, 54, of Cedar Rapids, a homicide. Linn County Medical Examiner Don Linder released autopsy results Monday afternoon.
Stickley's body was found by a pedestrian around 10 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block alley between Second and Third avenues SE, next to the taxi cab she drove, police said. Attempts to revive Stickley were not successful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made in the case, Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said Monday.
Family members told SourceMedia Group that Stickley, a mother of four who worked for Century Cab, was likely robbed while dropping off one of her fares. Police have not addressed the theory.
This most recent homicide is the fourth violent death in the Wellington Heights neighborhood since 2008. Two of the cases have resulted in convictions, and another man is awaiting trial on charges of first-degree murder.
