4 COVID deaths in Linn the most in Iowa in past week
Number of new virus cases drops statewide

For the second week in a row, Linn County reported the most COVID-19 deaths in the state.
The county saw four confirmed deaths in the past week, the same total as last week.
Health officials on Wednesday reported 25 virus deaths for the state in the past week, down from last week’s 32.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the virus has caused 9,907 deaths in Iowa.
New cases
Iowa on Wednesday reported 4,802 new COVID-19 cases in the past week, down from 4,921 last week, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
The new cases bring the state’s total to 837,739 since March 2020.
The actual total is likely higher, given the availability of at-home test kits, which are not reported to the state.
Linn County added 350 cases in the past week, down from last week’s 392. Johnson County tallied 310 new cases, up slightly from 306 last week.
Hospitalizations
COVID-19 hospitalizations were up 8 percent in the past week to 264, from last week’s 244, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The number of patients in intensive care increased from 27 to 30 in the past week.
