2 arrested for attempting to buy pot during narcotics search

IOWA CITY - Two West Liberty men allegedly looking to buy marijuana were arrested after arriving at an Iowa City residence where police were executing a narcotics search warrant.
According to police reports, at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, Roberto Flores Jr., 19, and Vincent Lopez Jr., 18, arrived at 1067 Briar Dr. while police were conducting the search.
Lopez, the driver, admitted to coming to the home to buy marijuana, police said. Flores had the money to buy the pot and also had sent text messages to the subject of the narcotics investigation requesting marijuana, police said.
After Lopez and Flores consented to a search, marijuana was found in the car's console and a small amount of it under Lopez's seat.
The men are each charged with possession of a controlled substance. Flores also is charged with solicitation to commit a felony, a Class D felony.
