CEDAR RAPIDS - The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library will be eligible to receive federal assistance for flood recovery with a significant barrier removed.
Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, helped museum officials negotiate with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to remove a requirement to exhaust Small Business Administration disaster loans, museum CEO and President Gail Naughton said.
Those loans could have burdened the museum with debt, Loebsack's office noted.

Five museum buildings were damaged during the floods of 2008 in Czech Village. Naughton did not know how much disaster relief funding might come from FEMA.
